Senior Laboratory Software Engineer Manager

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Laboratory Software Engineer to lead the design, development, delivery, and support of enterprise laboratory software platforms and applications. This individual will provide technical and operational leadership across the software development lifecycle while driving innovation, scalability, security, and quality across mission-critical systems.

Lead development, integration, and support of laboratory software solutions

Manage and mentor onshore and offshore engineering teams

Drive code quality, modernization, and process improvements

Promote a high-performance, innovative engineering culture

Own project delivery, timelines, and outcomes

Ensure secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions

Champion AI-assisted development and testing

Recruit, coach, and develop engineering talent

Manage resources, risks, and delivery schedules

Partner with stakeholders to deliver technical solutions

Collaborate with IT Operations on deployments and support

Lead resolution of complex production issues and root cause analysis

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

8+ years of IT experience, including 4+ years in a leadership or management role

Hands-on experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

Strong experience with backend development, REST APIs, and microservices architecture

Expertise with Java frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot

Experience with Python frameworks including Flask, Django, or FastAPI

Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design

Experience with SQL and No

SQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL

Experience applying AI-assisted development tools and modern software engineering best practices

Proven success leading software implementations within scientific, laboratory, healthcare, or regulated environments

Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineering teams

Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills

Experience serving as an escalation point for complex technical issues

Cloud platform experience with AWS and/or Azure Enterprise application development within laboratory or healthcare environments

Software delivery in highly regulated industries

Leading distributed engineering teams across multiple locations
