Solo Pastor:
First Presbyterian Church of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia
Primary Responsibilities
Preaching (Primary Strength)
- Preach expository, doctrinally rich sermons with clarity and pastoral warmth
- Maintain a preaching ministry rooted in the Westminster Standards
- Plan and lead morning and evening Lord’s Day services
Teaching
- Teach Sunday School as needed
- Lead mid‑week prayer meetings
- Equip the congregation in Scripture and Reformed theology
- Provide theological leadership
- Cultivate spiritual growth through mentoring and small groups
- Train members in holiness and biblical knowledge
- Encourage household discipleship
- Lead worship according to the regulative principle
- Provide inputs for weekly worship liturgies (psalms, hymns, prayers, confessions)
- Maintain reverent, God‑centered worship
- Model personal evangelism and hospitality
- Lead outreach to the community
- Support missions and evangelistic initiatives
- Visit members, shut‑ins, and those in crisis
- Provide biblical counseling and prayer
- Shepherd with compassion and attentiveness
Leadership & Administration
- Moderate the Session
- Provide oversight to ministries and committees
- Ensure ministries align with Scripture, the Westminster Standards, and the PCA BCO
- Administer the sacraments faithfully
Qualifications:
Doctrinal Commitments
- Strict subscription to the Westminster Standards preferred
- Few, if any, exceptions
- Clear affirmation of biblical inerrancy, the RPW, and Presbyterian polity
Personal & Pastoral Qualifications
- Preferred:
Married, modeling a healthy Christian household; must meet biblical qualifications (1 Tim 3, Titus
1) - Demonstrates humility, wisdom, and a shepherd’s heart
- Disciplined devotional life
- Communicates with clarity and compassion
Professional Qualifications
- Ordained or ordainable in the PCA
- M.Div. from a Reformed seminary
- 5–20 years of pastoral experience preferred Final date to receive applications
