Job Description

Cashier role within the Grocery Department. Full/Part Time, with a flexible schedule. Reports to Store Manager/Assistant Manager. No travel required.

Position Summary
  • Operate a shift both accurately and efficiently, following company policy to contribute to store profitability.
  • Receive and disburse money in establishments other than financial institutions.
  • Use electronic scanners, cash registers, and related equipment.
  • Process credit or debit card transactions and validate checks.
Essential Functions
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure amounts are correct.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods and services using cash.
  • Stock shelves and hang tags.
  • Monitor checkout stations to ensure adequate cash and proper staffing.
  • Accurately record all markups, markdowns, spoilage, and store use of merchandise.
  • Advise Store Manager and/or Assistant Manager of personnel situations or policy violations.
  • Assist other store cashiers with store operation issues, escalating to store manager as needed.
  • Maintain a low cash drawer and use the safe as instructed by the store.
  • Complete shift-checkout reports at appropriate times as directed.
  • Follow correct vendor check‑in procedures within company guidelines.
  • Perform various cleaning duties such as cleaning front windows, around check stands, and cleaning out storage areas.

  • Operate a cash register for up to 8 hours or longer.

  • Perform basic math calculations to make change, complete shift reports, and account for a variety of products during vendor check‑in.
