Under minimal supervision, this position provides academic and personal guidance for a caseload of applicants to the College from their admission through to completion.

Duties include:

promoting and managing progression, course success, retention, completion, post-graduate success, and student satisfaction; utilizing the College's River Support retention resources and other indicators of progress to assist students and faculty toward course and degree/certificate completion goals.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Guiding assigned caseload of students and walk-in students with program selection, program planning, and enrollment information and assistance.
  • Completing an individualized Student Success Plan for every student in the assigned caseload, assisting with registration for classes, filing for financial aid, or billing issues; closely monitoring and actively supporting each student's progression toward degree/certificate completion; and verifying and updating students on degree requirements.
  • Providing extensive support to students in the planning and achievement of educational and career goals; reaching out to students who are falling behind in coursework; assisting with transfers of study; and enhancing student awareness of educational resources.
  • Assisting with processing of student admission, registrations, and payments as needed.
  • Following up regularly with every student in the assigned caseload to identify and resolve any barriers to success; working to solve issues related to student success, including referrals to resources within and outside of the College and tracking to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Reviewing reports and updating Student Success Plans.
  • Assisting with recruitment activities, including evenings and weekends, to meet College enrollment goals; assisting with off-site registrations and Dual Enrollment.
  • May also greet walk-in students; provide support in utilizing social media for various communication and promotional reasons; participate in Workday testing; and work on various projects.
  • Works a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the students and the College (peak registration and weekends), including one evening per week and extended hours during peak registration.
  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, knowledge and skill requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to education and/or student services (Master's degree preferred); two (2) years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Knowledge of student services, including managing, tracking, and supporting a significant student caseload from enrollment through degree/certification completion.
  • Knowledge of intrusive advising.
  • Knowledge of one-stop enrollment incorporating registration, financial aid, admissions, and similar support.
  • Skill in organizing, time management, and prioritizing.
  • Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications including using a student information system.
  • Skill in developing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to provide accurate and sound academic and career advice.
