JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position includes preparing, instructing, and grading all coursework in the assigned classes; assigning final grades; and recording attendance.
SPECIFIC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare course materials, lectures, tests, and/or quizzes.
- Evaluate student progress through examinations and observations of performance
- Actively support student success through individual counseling and advising.
- Support student professional development through appropriate organizations.
- Teach online as well as traditional classes.
- Participate in department and division meetings.
- Maintain an active program of professional development related to individual, professional, institutional needs.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the teaching discipline or a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in the specific discipline. A Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
- Knowledge of technical and computer skills relating to the class to be taught.
- Knowledge of instructional techniques and the proven ability to work well with others are also required.
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
- Must be a public speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
