Axon/RTIC Systems Administrator
This position is essential and is required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.
The Axon/RTIC Systems Administrator provides advanced technical support, system administration, and lifecycle management for the agency's Axon ecosystem and designated technologies supporting the Real-Time Intelligence Center (RTIC). This position serves as the agency's primary administrator and subject-matter expert for Axon systems—including body-worn cameras, TASER devices, Axon Evidence, Axon AI platforms, and Axon user and device management—while additionally providing technical administration and integration support for other critical public-safety technologies, such as Fusus, ALPR systems, Drone as a First Responder (DFR/Skydio), video/audio switchers, computer hardware, software integrations, and APIs.
The position coordinates with IT leadership, operational program owners, and vendors to ensure system reliability, data integrity, operational readiness, and continuous improvement of mission-critical Axon and RTIC technologies. The role operates within the policies, architecture standards, and change-management processes defined by IT leadership. Work is performed under the direction of the IT Director, with Axon/RTIC operational priorities established in coordination with SPAAD.
Essential Responsibilities
- Administers and manages all Axon technologies, including , Axon Body cameras, Axon AI products, Axon user accounts, Axon device management, and Axon cloud integrations.
- Provides technical support to RTIC personnel, including diagnosing and resolving issues involving hardware, software, network components, and integrated public-safety systems.
- Supports and administers DFR technologies including Skydio drones, launch stations, telemetry systems, and related software platforms.
- Sets up, configures, and maintains audio/video systems, including Crestron switchers, video walls, and RTIC display systems.
- Supports and maintains Axon/RTIC integrations with Central Square CAD/RMS in coordination with the responsible system administrators and operational owners.
- Configures and maintains systems to support evidence integrity, chain of custody, and retention schedules in coordination with Records, Legal, Evidence, and other designated program owners.
- Supports and troubleshoots Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) systems, including fixed, mobile, and portable cameras.
- Manages and configures FUSUS platforms, ensuring RTIC analysts have continuous access to mission-critical data streams.
- Coordinates data ingestion and system integrations using APIs and vendor-provided tools; assists in the development and maintenance of software integrations.
- Installs, configures, and maintains hardware and peripheral equipment used in RTIC operations.
- Documents all support processes, system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and technical workflows.
- Conducts preventive maintenance, installs system updates, firmware, and patches for all assigned platforms.
- Provides technical training, guidance, and documentation to RTIC personnel, Axon administrators, trainers, supervisors, and agency users regarding assigned systems, workflows, access, troubleshooting, and system best practices.
- Serves as primary technical liaison with Axon and other technology vendors.
- Tracks assigned system licenses, warranties, asset inventories and assignments, configurations, refresh cycles, maintenance requirements, vendor deliverables, and renewal milestones and provides technical verification and budget-planning information to Information Technology, Business Operations, Finance, and other responsible components.
- Participates in an on-call or after-hours support rotation, as assigned, and responds to critical incidents, system outages, emergency deployments, and other mission-critical operational needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
