OverviewThe Institute for the Creative Arts is the first Performing & Visual Arts high school in Arkansas. As a charter school funded by the state, our mission is to empower students through an intensive arts and academic curriculum that prepares them for higher education, creative careers, and future leadership in the performing and visual arts industries.
Responsibilities- Direct and evaluate student learning experiences in both curricular and extracurricular activities in accordance with school policies.
- Provide guidance to promote student welfare and educational development.
- Maintain liaison with parents.
- Teach and administer classroom programs.
- Care for and protect school property.
- Participate in the business and activities of the faculty.
- Cooperate with and participate in planning and evaluation of the school program.
- Notify the Dean and Department Director of necessary absences as early as possible.
- Maintain cordial and workable relationships with colleagues.
- Inform the Dean and Department Director of any matters affecting normal classroom activities that require supervisory attention.
- Study and comply with School Board policy.
- Work collaboratively in Professional Learning Communities to promote the arts and assist students in their arts activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in the core content area of teaching; master’s degree a plus.
- Three years of high‑school teaching experience preferred.
- Team builder with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and involve community partners.
- Ability to recruit and mentor students.
- Ability to work with instructors and students across disciplines.
- Interest in a creative environment with significant small‑group and one‑on‑one learning.
- Must meet Arkansas licensure requirements in core content areas or Arkansas Qualified Teacher requirements.
- Stand for the majority of the school day.
- Walk short distances between classrooms and activities.
- Sit, stand, lean, reach, bend, lift, and squat to assist students as needed.
- Walk on uneven surfaces (playground).
- Walk up and down stairs.
- Be outside in all weather conditions for assigned duties (recess, before‑school drop‑offs, after‑school pick‑ups, and field trips).
Full‑time contract, 190 days. Salary commensurate with qualifications; starting $50,000 and up. Full benefits package.
