Location: Northside High School, Fort Smith, Arkansas

Reports To: Principal

Terms of Employment: A full contract of 210 days with benefits as specified in the employee contract. The contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.

Beginning: 26-27 School Year

Qualifications: Must meet Arkansas licensure requirements.

Essential Job Functions
  • Additional assignment as an Assistant Football Coach.
  • Additional assignment as the Head Bowling Coach.
  • Teach content and other appropriate learning activities to students in a classroom, utilizing the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education.
  • Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives and grade‑level expectations.
  • Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the curriculum specified in state law, administrative regulations, procedures, and the Mission, Vision, and Values of the School District.
  • Provide planned learning experiences to motivate students and best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Assess student performance, develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction as necessary.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of respect and rapport in all interactions.
  • Establish and maintain standards of behavior needed for a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents about student progress.
  • Provide specific, timely, and constructive feedback to students.
  • Identify students’ needs and cooperate with other staff members to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, reflecting high expectations for student engagement and safety.
  • Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned, including after‑school faculty meetings.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in district‑provided or self‑selected professional development activities.
  • Administer standardized assessments as mandated by the school district and state.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs at the school or district level.
  • Carry out duties as assigned, including before‑school, after‑school, or other responsibilities.
  • Participate in grade‑level collaboration, planning, and PLCs, as well as school committees.
  • Supervise students on recess, bus, before/after school duty, field trips, extracurricular events, and other out‑of‑classroom activities.
  • Maintain punctual attendance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain positive professional relationships and emotional control under stress.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Job Functions
  • Lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, reaching above the head, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
  • Travel to various locations to serve the needs of students.
