Hourly Adult Education Instructor – Mansfield Juvenile Correctional Facility

Location:

Adult Education Center, Mansfield Juvenile Correctional Facility, Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Reports to:

Director of Adult Education.

Terms of Employment: 2-4 days per week; 8-14 hours per week. Beginning:
August 2026 (date to be determined).

Position Type:
Part‑Time. Salary: $25.00 per hour.

Mansfield Juvenile Correctional Facility is seeking an hourly Adult Education Instructor to provide GED instruction and attainment programs for adult learners. The instructor will deliver curriculum to adult students, assist in recruitment, program implementation, and monitor student progress.

• Teach course curriculum and other instructional programs developed for adults.
• Build knowledge and develop clinical skills to help students obtain credentials.
• Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, schedules, and course requirements.
• Assist the Adult Education Director in recruiting students and implementing new programs.
• Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and prospective employers.
• Provide a stimulating learning environment that encourages participation, interpersonal skill development, and concepts of good patient care.
• Maintain monthly time sheets and submit by required deadlines.
• Work as part of a team with advisors, career coaches, and SNAP case managers to assist students in accessing benefits and employment opportunities.
• Perform physical work with students and patients in a clinical setting, if applicable.
• Work nights and be flexible with shifts, which may include day, evening, or other site assignments.
• Supervise students during recess, bus rides, before/after school duties, field trips, extracurricular events, and out‑of‑classroom activities.
• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Practice excellent organizational skills and maintain professional relationships.

• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
• Endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, reaching, bending, or squatting.

• Meet Arkansas teaching licensure requirements.
• Math or English teaching license preferred.
• Experience teaching adult learners is an asset.

• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
