Position Overview
Faculty – Non‑Tenure Visiting Assistant Professor (Biological Sciences). Post for one academic year renewable up to two years, starting August 2026. Teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester.
LocationUniversity of Arkansas at Fort Smith, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Responsibilities- Teach 15 credit hours per semester, including Biological Sciences and Laboratory, Human Anatomy and Laboratory, and Introduction to Cell Biology.
- Maintain office hours for UWFS students.
- Assess and evaluate student learning.
- Lead and foster a positive work environment, collaborate with faculty, staff, and students, and perform other duties as assigned.

- Ensure consistent on‑time attendance.

- Demonstrated knowledge of biology, experience teaching anatomy.
- Organizational skills and timely responses to student inquiries.
- Ability to respond to learners from diverse backgrounds and deliver content through varied teaching styles.
- Proficiency with technology in teaching.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues.
Required:
Doctorate in Biology or related field.
Preferred:
Publication record in Biology, Anatomy, or Cell Biology; prior teaching experience with student evaluation.
Collaboration with faculty, staff, and students in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
Background Check RequirementsCriminal background check and motor vehicle registry check; may also involve sex‑offender registry, financial history, and drug screening.
Salary$60,000.
