Job Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district positively at all times.
  • Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
  • Establish and sustain an orderly classroom environment in which students actively participate.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the requirements of the district’s curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate the differences in student learning styles.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional materials, activities, and resources reflecting an understanding of students’ learning needs.
  • Teach district-approved curriculum based on state frameworks and standards.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and apply results to plan instruction.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students per IEP guidelines.
  • Work with other staff to set instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assistants and volunteers’ assignments.
  • Use technology to enhance teaching and learning processes.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formative and summative measures.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as designated; sponsor activities approved by district leadership.
  • Model a positive role and support the school district’s mission.
  • Manage student behavior per district policies.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, facilities, and instructional materials.
  • Assist with selecting instructional resources.
  • Establish open communication with parents and students about academic progress.
  • Communicate effectively and accurately to convey information.
  • Participate in professional development to improve skills.
  • Stay informed about state, district, and school regulations.
  • Maintain and file required reports, records, and documents.
  • Assume duties beyond teaching as required.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
  • Content knowledge: deep understanding of curriculum and standards.

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with required endorsements, or ability to obtain one in the assigned subject level.
  • If holding an out-of-state teaching certificate, provide documentation of initiated reciprocity procedures required by the Arkansas Department of Education.
  • Pass a preliminary criminal background and child maltreatment check.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  • Possess skilled science of reading awareness within 30 days of hire.
  • Accommodate individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience is not required, but preferred.

Most job responsibilities for this position are in an indoor school environment that is temperature controlled under seasonal conditions. The role is cognitively demanding and requires strong professional, social, and communication skills.
