Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving sustainability performance in your assigned area of responsibility. Each day, you will support the implementation of the group-wide sustainability strategy and business-specific priorities by applying in-depth knowledge and offering solutions and advice. You will also showcase your expertise by providing feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within your own unit and across ABB.

You will be mainly accountable for
  • Lead sustainability integration across R&D, including risk management for sustainability issues, supporting product development and gate model projects, and driving materials and motor specific sustainability initiatives.
  • Perform core environmental assessments and documentation, including Life Cycle Analyses, circularity evaluations, Environmental Product Declarations, and identification of reduction opportunities.
  • Support sustainability governance and compliance, tracking emerging regulations and standards, reporting progress on KPIs and R&D objectives, and assisting with related regulatory obligations (e.g., cybersecurity, EU Data Act, critical raw materials).
  • Enable organizational sustainability performance, coordinating programs that drive behavioral change, facilitating global best practice sharing, collaborating across functions, and managing project objectives and reporting.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field with minimum 6 years of R&D experience with exposure to product design and development
  • Preferred Experience Includes: Electric motors and knowledge of manufacturing processes and customer support. Environmental Product Declaration / Life Cycle Analysis. Lean Six Sigma - Certifications / PMP - Certification / ASQ - Quality Certification
  • Expertise or strong willingness to develop expertise in environmental sustainability, circularity, circular economy principles, and responsible sourcing of raw materials.
  • Demonstrated ability in consulting, planning, organizing, and applying structured sustainability methodologies to complex technical challenges.
  • Proven capability for breakthrough thinking, problem solving, and navigating cross functional sustainability initiatives
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
