OSP Engineer

Mountain Ltd. is seeking an OSP Engineer to work Remotely in the pacific standard time zone.

The OSP Engineer performs detailed outside plant facility engineering tasks, including estimating, analyzing, designing, planning, and tracking budgets against actual costs for fiber cables, poles, and conduit systems. This position is responsible for preparing and interpreting engineering plans, drawings, and reports, and for planning and designing field‑mounted switches serving areas. The role also involves specific job budget development and tracking. The engineer performs duties such as preparing and organizing permit packages for submittal to the appropriate entities, maintaining complex files, keeping records, searching and investigating information contained in files, processing departmental documents that require specific knowledge of functional operations, posting records including accounting and continuing property records, typing correspondence and reports from rough drafts, and assisting engineers as requested.

The OSP Engineer is responsible for understanding and designing network elements that provide Fiber‑to‑Home and fiber solutions. They will interface with multiple groups and collaborate on intra‑ and inter‑state designs for implementation. They are expected to have a working knowledge of equipment used to provide answers regarding installation and function of equipment when being placed in service. They will also need to understand circuit design, the functionality of these devices, and work within the system used for this purpose.

This position will work with local retail, wholesale, and municipal entities regularly.

• Ability to identify existing voice/data plant, electric, and other utilities on site plans as well as in the field
• Ability to indicate existing voice/data plant location, relocate facilities, and obtain right‑of‑ways and easements where required
• Must have experience managing other OSP Engineers and reviewing/correcting their projects
• Expertise in obtaining right‑of‑ways and easements where required
• Must be capable of engineering routine and specific COE/OSP work orders, including more complex projects such as road moves
• Must possess expert knowledge of COE/OSP principles, work order procedures, voice/data industry standards, PC applications, and COE/OSP record and/or computer‑aided drafting systems
• Experience with local networks
• Ability to perform quality control on engineering work for other team members
• Experience and understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) for engineering requirements
