Overview
The Financial Aid Compliance Coordinator works under general supervision to provide functional leadership and guidance for developing strategies that ensure the institution adheres to all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies related to student financial aid. The role manages policies, procedures, and compliance in the administration of federal student aid, develops compliance strategies, internal controls, and audits, and provides guidance to faculty, staff, and stakeholders to ensure regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities- Policy and Procedure Development and Management – Leads the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the university’s financial aid policies and procedures in alignment with federal Title IV, state, and institutional requirements.
- Internal Compliance Auditing and File Review – Reviews Workday Student processes, conducts comprehensive file reviews (e.g., aid offers, verification, Return of Title IV, enrollment changes), identifies compliance risks, and recommends corrective actions.
- Return of Title IV (R2T4) Processing – Performs timely and accurate R2T4 calculations for all withdrawals in accordance with federal regulations.
- Regulatory Implementation and Staff Training – Integrates new regulations into business processes and systems and delivers training to financial aid staff.
- Regulatory Monitoring and Analysis – Monitors communications from federal and state agencies, analyzes regulatory changes, and supports leadership in developing compliance strategies.
- Customer Service – Provides student‑centered service in person, virtually, phone, and email, and performs other assigned duties.
- Consumer Information Compliance – Contributes to the university’s Consumer Information committee to ensure accurate disclosures.
- Institutional Compliance Reporting – Prepares compliance documentation for the Office of the President and other stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Professional Accountability – Works collaboratively with stakeholders, demonstrates professionalism, and maintains a service‑oriented approach.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in financial aid, higher education student services, compliance, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Title IV federal student aid compliance and experience with Workday Student.
- Knowledge of Title IV regulations, state financial aid programs, FERPA, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex federal regulations and translate guidance into operational policies and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with proficiency in financial aid systems and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor.
Salary: $45,000 – $48,000 per year. Benefits include university contributions to health, dental, life, and disability insurance; tuition waivers for employees and their families; 12 official holidays; immediate leave accrual; and a choice of retirement programs with university contributions.
