Responsibilities
  • Oversee inspection procedures in assigned areas according to plant established procedures and product specifications.
  • Ensure accurate inspection and reporting of required information. Perform inspection procedures at frequencies identified in programs, procedures, and specifications.
  • Perform routine inspections of the environment and facility to ensure regulatory requirements and HACCP, GMP, SSOP procedures are met. Report information and notify appropriate personnel when product fails to meet expectations or program requirements.
  • Enter data into computer systems and maintain shift HACCP records. Verify HACCP observations and all elements of the HACCP Plan during the shift.
  • Conduct pre‑shipment review of records before shipment of any product and review GMPs and sanitation SOP documentation.
  • Prepare and present HACCP training to all appropriate personnel and file all QA and HACCP documents. Audit HACCP documentation regularly.
  • Assist new employees in learning position requirements.
  • Make critical decisions affecting production process and plant functions, and identify issues related to failure to meet customer expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with facility personnel and management about quality, food safety, and customer issues.
  • Maintain written documentation to convey completed job tasks.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, attend meetings, and foster team cohesiveness on major issues.
  • Assist in oversight of food safety and quality programs, stay updated on HACCP plan, Hazard Analysis, Flow Charts, SSOP plan and related systems.
  • Perform direct observations of food safety related actions and quality programs regularly.
  • Support compliance with USDA goals and encourage new goals while improving morale within the department.
Qualifications
  • GED or High School Diploma required.
  • Must pass company‑issued QA job entry exam.
  • Must exhibit good reading, writing and mathematical skills at a 12th grade level.
  • Company‑issued HACCP certification must be acquired within one year of hire.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Excel, Word, file management).
  • One to three months of related experience or training preferred, preferably in poultry or food processing organization.
  • Ability to stand, reach, walk and lift up to 50 pounds; work on feet for entire shift; able to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment with occasional exposure to heat, cold and biohazards.
  • Understanding of FDA and USDA regulations, GMP, HACCP, SSOP, and quality systems.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift; stand, reach, and move around the facility. Light to moderate physical effort required. May be required to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds. Working around loud equipment, drains, footbaths, hoses, and occasionally exposure to extreme heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, dust, gas, fumes, chemicals, and biohazards.

PPE

Standard waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, slip‑resistant footwear, lock‑out / lock‑and‑tag equipment.

Travel

Minimal local travel to other work sites.

Additional Requirements

Company‑issued HACCP certification must be obtained within one year of hire. The position is a Salary Non‑Exempt role.
