Position Overview

Knife/Scissor Sharpener – 2nd Shift – Fort Smith, AR (: ) Department 410. Shift

Hours:

4:55 pm – EOS. Pay Rate: $16.25/hour.

• $1/hour weekly attendance incentive
• $1/hour night shift premium
• Pay increases at 30- and 90-days

• Set up/tear down workstation & line as required
• Set up and operate grinding machines to shape and sharpen knives, saw blades and scissors according to specifications
• Start machine and observe grinding operation to verify conformance to specifications
• Hone cutting edge of ground knives
• Select and install grinding wheels on machine
• Manipulate blade across grinding wheel by hand
• Sharpen or shape knives, scissors and saw blades
• Set up knives and scissors for production
• Sanitize production floor during production break
• Collect all scissors and knives at end of shift
• Maintain work area in a safe and sanitary manner

• Must stand, walk, reach with hands and/or arms for periods of time
• Must regularly lift and/or move 25–40 pounds

Employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
