The Sheet Metal Worker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Fort Smith, AR. In this role, the Sheet Metal Worker will measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal components according to specifications and safety standards. Daily tasks include reading blueprints and work orders, operating hand and power tools, performing basic welding or fastening, and inspecting finished products for quality and accuracy.
The Sheet Metal Worker will collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules, maintain a clean and organized work area, and follow all safety protocols and company procedures. This role may also involve material handling, basic equipment maintenance, and participation in continuous improvement activities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and measurements needed for sheet metal fabrication and assembly.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and equipment commonly used in metalworking, such as shears, brakes, presses, and grinders.
- Knowledge of basic fabrication techniques, including cutting, bending, forming, fastening, and simple welding or brazing.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
- Attention to detail and quality control skills to inspect materials and finished parts for defects, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to work with supervisors, engineers, and fellow team members in a fast-paced setting.
- Previous experience in sheet metal work, fabrication, or a related trade is preferred; vocational training or certification in metalworking or industrial technology is beneficial.
- Reliable work ethic, willingness to learn new techniques, and ability to follow instructions and established processes.
