Position: Registered Nurse - Med Tele (5100) Nights

Education Unit Overview

The new Mercy Hospital Fort Smith Dedicated Education Unit is an 18‑bed unit focused on teaching graduate nurses the fundamental skills necessary for success.

This unit will care for Medical Telemetry patients with a 4:1 patient‑to‑nurse ratio (day shift only). Each nurse will act as a preceptor to two senior‑level nursing students who will take total care of the 4 patients. A clinical rotation preceptor will also be available for support and oversight of the students. By joining the Dedicated Education Unit at Mercy, you will directly impact the future of nursing while progressing your leadership skillset for your future career.

Details

Sign‑On Bonus: $10,000 for full‑time RNs with at least 1 year of experience. No contract.

Responsibilities
  • Precept two senior‑level nursing students per unit.
  • Provide direct patient care to up to 4 Medical Telemetry patients.
  • Support and oversee students in clinical rotation.
  • Foster an educational environment and promote best practices.
  • Participate in unit operations and patient care planning.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduated from a nursing school (Associate’s, Diploma, or BSN).
  • Licensure: Must maintain a current RN license in the hiring state or a valid compact license and meet all state board of nursing requirements.
  • Certifications: Must have an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within the probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain them within 90 days of hire.
