Mercy Fort Smith's Med Surg Service Line is made up of eight specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. While you will have a "home unit", we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc.

Oncology 5500 Unit Details:

• Beds: 23
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 6:1
• Patient Population:
  Cancer, Blood disorders, and diabetic patients.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure:
  Current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure; must meet state board requirements.
• Certifications:
  
  American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required or obtained within 90 days of hire.
