Position: Registered Nurse - Med Tele (5200) FT Nights

Dedicated Orientation Unit Overview

Find your calling at Mercy! This new 18‑bed Dedicated Orientation Unit in Fort Smith focuses on teaching newly hired Mercy caregivers fundamental nursing skills while managing a 6:1 patient‑to‑nurse ratio for Medical Telemetry patients. The unit seeks highly engaged nurses passionate about education, patient care, and best practices to serve as preceptors to two new caregivers each, making a direct impact on the future of nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Care for Medical Telemetry patients with a 6:1 patient‑to‑nurse ratio.
  • Act as a preceptor to two newly hired Mercy caregivers, teaching fundamental nursing skills and best practices.
  • Support new staff and facilitate their transition into Mercy’s clinical environment.
Position Details
  • Sign‑On Bonus – $10,000 for full‑time RNs with at least one year of experience (no contract).
  • Relocation Assistance – Up to $3,000 per policy.
  • Stay Premium Program – Up to $8/hour based on years of Mercy service.
  • Shift differentials.

Qualifications
  • Education – Graduated from a nursing school (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
  • Licensure – Must obtain and maintain a current RN license in the hiring state or a compact licensure that meets all state board requirements.
  • Experience – Minimum of three years of nursing experience.
  • Preferred Experience – Prior mentor or preceptor experience; prior medical‑surgical experience highly favored.
  • Certifications – Must hold an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete the course within the probationary period; must have ACLS and BLS or obtain them within 90 days of hire.
