Job Overview
TNAA Total Med RN seeks a circulating operating room (CVOR) registered nurse for a 13‑week travel assignment in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The position is 40 hours per week, with 10‑hour shifts.
Travel nurse assignments will require recent acute‑care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant. The role will involve providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care, education, and assisting physicians and operating staff.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide basic bedside care.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
- Act as the communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
- Ensure the correct procedure(s) is being performed on the correct patient.
- Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by the physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home‑care needs.
- Respond to comfort and safety needs of patients.
- Accurately care for and handle specimens.
- Monitor equipment used during surgery.
- Maintain inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
- Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Maintain inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
- Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care.
- Help control bleeding.
- Suture patients following surgery.
OR travel nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty and lift up to 20 pounds routinely (up to 50 pounds may be required). Exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases is possible.
Requirements- ACLS, BLS, NIH certifications (additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment).
Pay is based on 10‑hour shifts, 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation), with a tax‑free stipend to be determined.
