RN Nurse
The RN is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care for the peri‑operative patient in accordance with the plan of care, established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care. The RN communicates findings to appropriate persons and documents them in the patient’s medical record. The RN manages and oversees the care and services provided by ancillary and other professional personnel, manages supplies and equipment within the unit, and maintains a collaborative and collegial relationship with physicians and interdepartmental personnel.
The RN participates in the marketing of operating room services to the medical staff, maintains a competent peri‑operative skill level, and ensures provision of safe, quality patient care that is sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and co‑workers. The RN plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in accordance with age‑specific and cultural diversity needs, assures appropriate and effective pain management, assesses, reports, and assists patients presenting with evidence of abuse or neglect, and supports the mission of Mercy.
The RN ensures that Mercy Hospital safety and infection control policies are followed, and assures that the philosophy, mission, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of Mercy are upheld.
