Position DetailsMercy Fort Smith has undergone a $162 million expansion of its ER and ICU. The ER expanded from 29 to 50 rooms, and the ICU stepped up from 38 to 64 rooms. This expansion enables approximately 25,000 additional patient visits per year, allowing us to better meet the needs of our community in a world‑class environment.

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
Licensure: Must obtain and maintain a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure for the state where nursing duties are performed; must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Experience: 1 year ER experience preferred; no contract, full‑time or part‑time (.6 and above); no call.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire. Additional certifications may be required based on unit and including:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurses (CPHON)
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
- C‑EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
- Other unit‑specific certifications as required
Staffing Ratios: 3:1 on high acuity; 4:1 as needed.
Transfers: Only complex orthopaedic, major burns, and certain neurosurgery cases are transferred out; everything else stays in‑house.
Physical Requirements- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
