As a Sushi Clerk, this position will be responsible for filling customer orders, handling food in a safe manner, ordering and receiving products, ensuring orders are correct, labeling, dating, and putting product away. The role also involves providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members, thereby upholding a positive company image.

Positions that Report to you:

- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
- Learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing products out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answer the telephone promptly, provide friendly, helpful service to callers, and take customer orders.
- Take customer orders at the Chinese Express counter.
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Review orders for the day.
- Understand and practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and neat.
- Review the status and appearance of the food for freshness.
- Ensure that an adequate food supply is ready and on hand and develop or follow a production list.
- Anticipate product needs for the department on a daily basis.
- Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary.
- Pull product from cooler/freezer for preparation.
- Check in product and put it away.
- Remove trash in a timely manner.
- Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
- Report to work when scheduled and on time.
- Wash dishes as necessary.
- Order product and supplies as necessary.
- Price product for customers as necessary.
- Deliver orders as needed.
- Assist in other areas of store as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
- Ability to carry out detailed but simple written or verbal instructions; deal with a few concrete variables.
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction; copying figures, counting, and recording.
- Possess the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
- High school or equivalent experience with Food Safety Certification.
- Six months or more of similar or related experience.
- Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently; and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Visual requirements: vision from 20 inches or less to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Continually exposed to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes.
- Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals/solvents.
- Fast paced work environment with significant pressure.
- Scale, shrink wrap machine, Telexon re-ordering machine, walk-in cooler, knives, and serving cases.
- Has daily contact with internal customers and the general public.
- Has weekly contact with suppliers/vendors.
- Has contact with Federal/State Governmental or Regulatory Agencies as necessary.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
