Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Title
Maintenance B Technician
Location and HoursFort Smith, AR – 4215 Planters Road (Fort Smith South Box). Hourly full‑time, 6:00 pm–6:00 am shift. Rotating schedule: 5 days on, 5 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off.
Pay & Sign‑On BonusHourly rate $27.72–$32.00, depending on skill level. Sign‑on bonus of $1,000 after 30 days, $500 after 6 months, and $500 after 1 year.

Responsibilities- Follow all safety rules and practices.
- Perform preventive maintenance: lubricating, measuring wear, repositioning components, and monitoring operations, vibrations, and noise levels.
- Execute emergency and breakdown repairs as required.
- Consult equipment manuals and technical literature; use detailed mechanical drawings and blueprints for troubleshooting and repair work.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to achieve maintenance objectives.
- Accurately use measurement and test equipment, including micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, torque wrenches, and pullers.
- Maintain gears, bearings, and related components; install and check backlash and wear.
- Perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam‑system repairs and installations; read and interpret related schematics and diagrams.
- Safely operate the boiler and maintain steam pressure of at least 180 PSI.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical drives and rigging systems.
- Apply welding skills (torch, stick, MIG, TIG) as needed.
- Identify bearing types, gear tooth fit classes, belt, sheaf, sprocket, and chain sizing.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and complete maintenance records.
- Enter notifications, time, research parts, manuals, and drawings into the maintenance computer system.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems independently and as part of a team.
- Communicate issues and unusual situations to supervision promptly.
- Ability to perform duties with or without accommodation.
- Proficiency in using and reading a variety of measuring devices.
- Well‑rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine‑shop skills and experience.
- Strong learning ability, instruction following, question‑asking, and teamwork skills.
- Experience as an electrician preferred; industrial/commercial electrical systems background advantageous.
- Knowledge of electric and hand tools (wire strippers, voltmeters, etc.) and interpretation of electrical drawings and blueprints.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Knowledge of PLC functions and motor frequency drives.
- Capacity to locate and diagnose electrical system or equipment trouble.
- Recognition that this is a safety‑sensitive position.
- Interview position requiring completion of a maintenance skills test prior to interviewing.
