Multi-craft Maintenance Technician

Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a Multi‑craft Maintenance Technician in Fort Smith, AR. The Multi‑craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting all production equipment and systems, performing a variety of maintenance duties, and ensuring maximum facility uptime to meet production goals while maintaining a safe operation.

Position starts at $37.32.

Hours of work will be based on current shift operations. At this time a continuous operation consisting of four shifts is in place (A, B, C, and

D); however, the posted position’s regular work schedule is 1st shift Monday through Friday, subject to overtime.

• Safely and efficiently perform corrective, preventive, and predictive work on manufacturing equipment, including complex level troubleshooting and repair techniques on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Realign and adjust various mechanical components, as well as install and repair electrical/mechanical systems.
• Perform a variety of mechanical and electromechanical tests on electrical/mechanical systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of failure.
• Utilize predictive maintenance tools, including IR thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasonic testing.
• Maintain current qualifications on equipment in the specific department(s) and the overall operation.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment and perform tasks necessary to meet safety, quality, and reliability expectations, both short‑ and long‑term.
• Facilitate on‑shift problem solving, resolution, and asset maintenance work processes.
• Proactively share knowledge with others.
• Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, and pushing in a loud, noisy, industrial, high‑volume environment.

• Two‑year technical degree or higher (as approved by Georgia‑Pacific) in electrical maintenance or a related field.
• Minimum five years of documented industrial maintenance experience or equivalent military experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and operating basic machine tools, including minor welding.
• Capability to perform basic alignment functions and install bearings, chains, sprockets, and power transmission systems.
• Working knowledge and experience with PLC logic, variable frequency drives, servo drives, and three‑phase power.

• Previously documented experience in welding, machine tools, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Knowledge and experience in RSLogic.
