Job Description & How to Apply Below
Field Service Manager - (Millwright & Mechanical Service)

About the company:

I am partnered with a millwright and mechanical services company. The crews handle equipment installs, moves, demo, process piping, and custom stainless fab inside food and protein processing plants nationwide.

The role:

This is the person who runs the field. You'll quote the work, lead the supervisors who execute it, and step in as PM on the biggest jobs. If you're running jobs today and want to be the one making the calls, this is the step up.

What you'll do:
  • Walk down jobs at customer sites and build estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subs on millwright and mechanical installs, equipment moves, demo, and piping
  • Lead a team of 5 Field Supervisors. You'll assign jobs, set scope and schedules, and back them up when issues come up in the field
  • Coordinate manpower, rental equipment, lifts, cranes, and subcontractors across multiple active projects
  • Own job cost from estimate through closeout, including tracking actuals, documenting change orders, and feeding lessons learned back into estimating
  • Serve as PM on the largest installations, up to $2-3M in installation value
What you need:
  • Background in millwright or mechanical contracting (installing, moving, and connecting industrial equipment)
  • Current field role where you're actively supervising and managing jobs. Formal direct reports aren't required
  • A strong feel for manpower and cost on large-scale installs. Knowing whether a weekend job takes 10 people or 12 matters here
  • AutoCAD skills: able to read, interpret, and make basic changes to drawings and layouts
  • Solid Excel and computer skills. You'll quote through a CRM
  • Willingness to travel about 90% and work weekends when installs call for it
  • Valid driver's license
Nice to have:
  • Formal estimating experience on mechanical or millwright projects
  • Experience leading supervisors, foremen, or crews
  • Time in food, poultry, or protein plants
Worklife:

This is a road job with weekend installs, and hours swing with the workload. SOmetimes it is 40 hour weeks and sometimes it could be 60-70 hour weeks. Depends on projects and what is in the hopper.
