Hours:

12:00 am – 12:00 pm

Pay Rate: $28 per hour

Summary

Transports chickens from broiler farms to plants, performing loading, unloading, and maintaining compliance with regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive a truck to transport chickens from broiler farms to the plants.
  • Picks up chickens at the farms.
  • Delivers chickens to live haul.
  • Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
  • Binds and unbinds cages.
  • Must comply with all D.O.T. and State driver training and documentation requirements.

Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, one year of verifiable driving experience, clean driving record and PSP Report. Requires a Tank Endorsement. Previous Live Haul experience is a plus.
  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to calculate hours of service, complete log book pages and calculate and report hours worked.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a Class‑A CDL Drivers License. Must have no major driving violations and be able to pass a D.O.T. physical and drug test.
  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Work Environment: Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate.
