Stormwater Management Technician / Environmental Specialist
Aerostar SES LLC (ASL) is seeking a motivated and adaptable Stormwater Management Technician / Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance and field operations on a military installation. In this role, you will perform a blend of outdoor fieldwork, regulatory compliance tasks, data management, and program support. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned.
- Environmental Compliance & Reporting
- Conduct stormwater and wastewater compliance inspections and maintain accurate records
- Support permit-required documentation and ensure adherence to federal, state, local, and installation environmental regulations.
- Review construction as-builts and assess stormwater structures for proper function.
- Field Operations & Sampling
- Perform outdoor fieldwork in various weather and terrain conditions, including steep or rugged environments.
- Collect environmental samples (stormwater and wastewater) and document field observations following established procedures
- Safely operate vehicles in both on-road and off-road conditions.
- Technical Support & Documentation
- Assist with development of environmental plans such as operational plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Action Plans
- Review and interpret laboratory data and prepare summaries or technical reports.
- Maintain organized data logs, metrics, and compliance documentation.
- Communication & Outreach
- Provide basic stormwater training and support educational outreach such as newsletters or informational materials.
- Communicate effectively with command staff, tenants, and civilian personnel and provide timely operational updates.
- Emergency & On-Call Support
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to hazardous material spills when required.
- Up to 5% of travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong time-management and organization skills; ability to balance multiple tasks and adapt quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, GIS, and digital data systems.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training within 90 days and annual refreshers thereafter.
- Must obtain GSWCC Level IB (Red Card) and Level II (Gray Card) certifications within the first year of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in stormwater, water quality, or environmental compliance is preferred. Previous experience with Georgia water quality standards, operational plan development, and permit-required reporting and recordkeeping is a plus.
Additional Qualifying Factors:
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
