Director of High School Ministry | Fort Thomas Campus

The Director of Student Ministry oversees the evangelization and discipleship of students in grades 6-12 by creating a community that connects students to Jesus and the mission of the church.

• Provide direct oversight, leadership, and development of Fort Thomas Student Ministries, personally reaching students in grades 6–12.
• Model a contagious, effective, missional mindset, equipping students to reach their peers with the love of Christ, and exemplifying community awareness and connection within a local school that students can imitate in their own circles of influence.
• Teach and encourage students to see themselves as effective witnesses and part of our church now — not something to aspire to “one day.”
• Identify, recruit, and develop volunteers to serve effectively on the Student Ministry Team.
• Discern the needs of Fort Thomas Student Ministry and develop new strategies for reaching students and partnering with their parents, strengthening our church.
• Curate a culture within Fort Thomas Student Ministry that builds awareness and engagement, and enables participation and increased invitation among students within our church and community.
• Regularly collaborate with other Independence & Florence Student Ministry staff, keeping all campuses aligned in mission and values, and sharpening one another to be “better together.”
• Assist the Campus Pastor in providing general pastoral care to the Fort Thomas Campus as needed and/or when “on call.”
• Actively participate in a GFC Community Group, and be open to leading one in the future.

• Being a committed believer in Jesus Christ, having spiritual gifts relevant to the position (shepherding, leadership, teaching, evangelism, and administration).
• Proven track record of faithfully leading and growing a ministry, church, or parachurch ministry.
• Sound knowledge of Scripture, with proven ability to teach and apply Scriptural principles.
• Willing to pursue and complete ACBC Certification within five years of date of hire.
• Supportive of GFC’s multisite ministry model, including the regular use of video preaching.
• Able to clearly articulate a personal testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrate a life consistent with that testimony.
• Able to build effective teams and mobilize volunteers to multiply the work of the ministry.
• Able to lead meetings, and train and teach volunteers pertaining to ministry responsibilities.
• Able to plan, strategize, organize, and effectively delegate so projects, events, and programs are completed with excellence.
• Must have proficient event planning and organizational skills.
• Must possess a working knowledge of Google Suite applications.
• Must proactively identify ministry needs and take steps to improve effectiveness, as well as measure and report on progress.
• Must be a team player, able to work on teams of various sizes and types (full-time staff, part-time staff, and volunteers).
• Must be a self-starter, able to define the work that needs to be done and complete it without close supervision.

• Must be able to build trusting, valuable working friendships.
• Must be able to engage in appropriate humor.
• Must demonstrate humility by considering others to be more important (Phil. 2:1–4ff).
• Must demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit identified in Gal. 5:22–23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
• Must be known as a peacemaker when working with others (Matt. 5:9).
• Must do all work abiding in Christ (John 15:5), knowing all our guidance, provision, capability, and strength come from Him.
• Must have an engaging personality that draws people towards the ministry and church.
• Must be a stable, mature, and growing Christian, demonstrating a continual transforming character toward Christlikeness, with an exemplary personal, marital, and family life.

• Salary will be commensurate with responsibilities and experience.
