The Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling role provides mental health support for children of military families at installations and community schools in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Responsibilities- Provide full-spectrum CYB counseling services to children of all ages, including assessment, brief counseling, consultation, action planning, referral and follow-up.
- Deliver non‑medical counseling, training and health‑wellness presentations, and advice to parents, personnel, schools and installation command.
- Serve as School or Youth Program counselors in DoDEA schools, community schools, summer camps and other on‑demand assignments.
- Collaborate closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) and Regional Supervisors to ensure services meet installation needs.
- Maintain documentation by entering activity data daily via smartphone or web application, ensuring accurate reporting and confidentiality.
- Establish relationships with community resources, provide linkages and support parent training and guidance.
- Adhere to line‑of‑sight protocol, ensuring an adult guardian can observe all client interactions.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn and restricted reporting situations in accordance with DoD protocol.
- Participate in supervision, share trend information, respond to critical incidents and special requests, and flex schedule as required.
- Engage in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, initiatives, studies and pilot programs, completing required documentation and integrating pilot activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in a mental health related field (e.g., Social Work, Counseling).
- Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a state, District of Columbia, U.S. territory or Commonwealth.
- Minimum two years of post‑licensure clinical experience.
- Intermediate‑level technology and software competency (Microsoft Suite, internet navigation, smartphone/tablet app navigation, video‑conferencing platforms).
- Ability to engage, communicate and respond quickly to emergent situations on military installations or in school settings, including travel across indoor/off‑ground facilities and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Compliance with site‑specific requirements such as current immunizations or vaccinations.
- U.S. Citizenship and fluency in English.
- Understanding, sensitivity and empathy for children, service members and families; ability to build trusting relationships and work effectively with diverse populations.
- Pass Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (CNACI) Clearance;
Installation Records Check (IRC);
Criminal History Background Check; FBI Fingerprints Check. - Valid U.S. state vehicle operator’s license (and military vehicle operator permit for TDY if required).
- Meet Magellan MFLC CYB criteria for experience with children and youth and specialty in child and adolescent development/psychology. School‑assigned counselors must have prior school‑setting experience.
- Salary Range: $59,922 – $100,280 per annum.
