Job SummaryFort Valley State University Cooperative Extension Program (FVSU‑CEP) is an educational resource dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Georgians and beyond through research‑based initiatives and programs. The Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) area focuses on helping families acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary to build strong, resilient families. The Department of Nursing will focus on family health care by targeting at‑risk populations via education and providing health counseling related to health maintenance, disease prevention, and illness patterns.
The position is 75% Extension and 25% teaching based in Cooperative Extension. It includes planning and designing programs for community‑based implementation to support students, county staff, and the Mobile Health Unit through health education outreach to Georgia residents.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities Cooperative Extension- Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs in community‑based implementation to support county staff and the Mobile Health Unit through educational outreach to Georgia residents.
- Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of research/ evidence‑based integrative statewide extension programs in health that meet the needs of limited resources, diverse, and underserved audiences.
- Collaborate with county staff, program leadership, campus departments, medical, federal, and local agencies to address chronic disease, obesity prevention, health equity, and associated health problems for program implementation with the Mobile Health Unit.
- Develop health education material for the benefit of the communities served by Extension.
- Provide training and educational support material for county‑based staff and their clientele and community public health through policy, systems, and environmental changes (PSE’s).
- Develop proposals to secure funding to expand health outreach programs.
- Provide individual health counseling related to health maintenance, disease prevention, and illness patterns. Inform individuals about state resources available to them.
- Provide support to care partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate and supervise assessment and simulation labs.
- Collaborate with course faculty to maintain lab supplies and equipment.
- Assist in developing and implementing clinical scenarios for simulation experiences.
- Operate and maintain simulations.
- Provide individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of nursing skills.
- Attend departmental meetings.
- Teach in didactic portion of nursing courses as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications- Master of Science degree in Nursing.
- 3 years clinical nursing experience.
- 1 year in nursing academia.
- Experience running simulations and operating simulation mannequins.
- Ability to work cohesively with members of the Extension and nursing team.
- Demonstrate nondiscriminatory attitude toward students, clients, and peers.
