Assistant​/Associate Professor of Chemistry

FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry.

This position is a full-time, 10-month, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant / Associate professor in Chemistry in the Department of Natural and Computational Sciences. The candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate-level courses related to Chemistry as needed by the Department, especially those in General Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Science. The incumbent will also participate in departmental activities and initiatives.

• Provide quality instruction and facilitate effective student learning to undergraduate courses in Chemistry and related courses using a variety of current instructional modalities.
• Create, prepare, and supervise undergraduate laboratories and lab activities.
• Use both internal (g. D2L) and external learning management systems to deliver relevant course materials and information to students.
• Develop course objectives, assignments, and means of evaluating student performance for the course.
• Provide prompt feedback on student assignments.
• Engage undergraduate level students in research opportunities.
• Develop and maintain an externally funded research program.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

• Ph.D. in Chemistry.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communicative skills and teamwork.

• Background in Inorganic Chemistry.
• Prior experience teaching Chemistry lectures and laboratories at the undergraduate level.
• Ability to create learning environments in which students can learn and thrive.
• Energy- or catalysis-related research experience.
