JOB SUMMARY

The Head Start/Early Head Start Site Supervisor is responsible for managing, organizing, executing, facilitating, and directing the necessary functions of an individual Fort Valley State University Head Start/Early Head Start site. The position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of quality early childhood programming within the Head Start/Early Head Start site. This position also oversees, monitors, executes, facilitates, and directs the necessary functions of an individual Fort Valley State University Head Start/Early Head Start site.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Responsible for monitoring and implementing Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC criteria, Quality Rated, policies, procedures, and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of the assigned Head Start/Early Head Start center.
  • Works with teachers in the development of daily, weekly, or monthly lesson
  • Work with teachers in assessing problem areas in curriculum and instruction and in finding and implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Introduces teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement.

  • Responsible for monitoring Head Start/Early Head Start
  • Ensure that the assigned site is maintained properly; classrooms are clean and orderly, equipment and supplies are monitored, and the facility is safe for staff and children.
  • Responsible for monthly safety checks, fire drills and safety meetings as well as updating any applicable logs.
  • Investigates any child or staff incidents ensuring all forms are complete and the proper director and/or supervisor is notified.
  • Monitors staff attendance, and site files for staff and/or children, for
  • Assists in the identification, purchase, and annual inventory of center supplies and equipment according to applicable policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and monitors filing and tracking systems and documentations for their site(s).
  • Submits verbal and/or written reports to Director of Education
  • Plans and directs the work of the staff overseeing. Observes staff and gives feedback on a regular, informal basis.
  • Promotes professional development and supports staff
  • Performs all other duties as
  • Ensure confidentiality is respected and
  • Provide day-to-day oversight, guidance, and support to Early Childhood Educators, Assistants, Kitchen Staff, and Custodian.
  • Assumes responsibility for own personal professional development including attending meetings and trainings, and maintaining the appropriate competencies and abilities as required by the position.
  • Complete monthly monitoring checks: to include action plans and follow-up as
  • Conduct and document monthly safety
  • Complete monthly lesson plan checks assuring implementation of Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Monitors the center staff and builds an effective site
  • Attend and positively participate in all staff meetings, at Fort Valley State University Head Start/Early Head Start improvement processes, and professional development
  • Adheres to Fort Valley State University Head Start/Early Head Start program personnel policies, EEO/AA requirements, fiscal procedures, and all other workplace rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Education or Executive Program
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure quality
  • Complete Head Start/Early Head Start Program Professional Learning Plans; writing performance improvement plans and implementing as needed monthly (August-May).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • When driving for Fort Valley State University Head Start/Early Head Start business, one must have a valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Position may require overnight travel/stay.
  • While performing this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
