JOB SUMMARY:
Fort Valley State University's College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology (CAFST) is searching for a (tenure- track) faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Agribusiness and Applied Economics. This is a 12-month position with 50% teaching and 50% research split appointment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
* The successful candidate will assist in providing leadership for the Agribusiness and Economics Program in the Department of Agricultural Sciences. This includes recruiting, advising, and mentoring students in the program, along with fostering internships.
* Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in areas such agribusiness management, agribusiness finance, and/or agribusiness product and food industry marketing.
* The incumbent will develop a research program that addresses key issues facing agribusinesses and farms in Georgia. Areas of emphasis may include marketing and management in the agricultural sector. The research program is expected to advance understanding of performance, resilience, and decision making across farms, agribusinesses, and rural economies.
* The faculty member will be expected to engage with industry and stakeholders to enhance the relevance and impact of research and teaching, contributing to the department's mission of serving agricultural producers, agribusinesses, and rural communities.
* The successful candidate will be expected to obtain and leverage external research support for these activities and to publish in appropriate high-impact journals. Activities include collaborating with the Georgia Agribusiness industry, including being an active participant in the various state, regional, and national agribusiness conferences.
* All faculty with a CAFST academic appointment are expected to contribute to the instructional mission of the college. Specific course assignments may be changed over time based on academic unit need. Expectations for this position also include supporting unit recruitment efforts and their individual engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Ph.D. in Agribusiness or Agricultural Economics or related area.
* Research program related to Agribusiness or agricultural economics in the United States with excellent publications record.
* Demonstrated record of extramural funding that supports and results in peer reviewed research publications
* Experiences with instructional strategies and techniques for teaching diverse students.
* Demonstrated ability to support, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
* Skilled in the use of new and emerging educational technology tools such as AI.
* Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
* Demonstrated success in communicating research to a wide array of audiences
* Higher education teaching experience preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Academic or industry experience beyond the Ph.D.
* Commitment to an interdisciplinary team approach to education and research
* Interpersonal skills, and desire to establish working relationships with external constituents in the allied agriculture industries
