Job SummaryThe Solar Support Technician will be responsible for connectivity of existing photovoltaic arrays to power-driven devices and provide load profile recommendations. The candidate should have a background in photovoltaic installation, electrical grid interconnection, and experience in reading and interpreting Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) records.
Major Duties- Photovoltaic installation & electrical connectivity
- Understanding of utility grid interconnectivity
- Monitor photovoltaic system for performance issues
- Assess SCADA monitoring & data collection
- Diagnose and repair photovoltaic system malfunctions
- Assist with reporting on project activities (virtual)
- Other duties as assigned
- The employee is frequently required to reach/operate with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds (assistance will be provided).
- Must be comfortable working around high-voltage systems.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must frequently stand or sit for extended periods and lift objects on occasions.
- Work will take place at one solar demonstration site location.
- Workdays will take place on weekdays & occasional weekends (if maintenance is required).
- Working outdoors (under shed) in various climates, hot and cold – occasionally.
- Technical training in electrical technology, renewable energy systems and industrial maintenance.
- Understanding of AC/DC power systems and high voltage systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Ability to use testing tools (e.g., multimeters).
- NABCEP certification (e.g., PV Installation Professional).
- State Electrical License.
