Summary
Responsible for the creation and manipulation of Computer Aided Design models to be used within the company to support manufacturing and inspection. The individual will interface with company departments to support and satisfy company policy and procedure for control of digital design definition and model base definition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Create solid CAD models and/or shop manufacturing aids/drawings within the company’s existing CAD software platform (Catia latest revision).
- Perform peer‑review of solid CAD models or shop‑generated aids/drawings.
- Control digital datasets throughout the process of initial receipt and/or creation for verification, translation, and configuration management.
- Interface directly and frequently with other departments to ensure on‑time delivery of products.
- Receive guidance from upper management on tactical scheduling situations throughout areas of responsibility.
- Communicate and engage upper management frequently on production status and situations.
- Engage with process planners and program managers on scheduling conflicts related to the area of responsibility.
- Return feedback to estimators as needed for lead‑time and pricing corrections based on unforeseen circumstances that cannot be resolved.
- Utilize lean manufacturing approaches to ensure continuous smooth workflow.
- Formulate, validate, and implement a Strategic Business Plan supporting measured introduction of Additive Manufacturing capabilities into FWM operations.
Education and Experience
- GED or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a CAD Designer working with Catia is preferred.
Majority of time is in a sitting position in front of a computer with extensive use of keyboard and mouse while completing tasks or in meetings. Occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to 30 pounds.
