Position: Part Time (25 hours per week) – Day shift
Job Overview: The coordinator works with the Catholic Chaplain to manage, coordinate, and support the Catholic Religious Education ministries, Sacramental Preparation, and Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) at Hurlburt Field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and enhance religious education programs and events, acquiring catechism prior to duty execution.
- Collaborate with program coordinators such as chapel staff, parish members, and volunteers for logistical support.
- Assist in planning, resourcing, and executing the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) with the Protestant Parish and prepare an after‑action report for the Wing Chaplain.
- Develop and maintain the Annual Ministry Plan, resource allocation, and administrative support based on local policy.
- Oversee the following Catholic religious education ministries:
- Catholic Sunday Schools
- Catholic Bible Studies
- Catholic Men of the Chapel (CMOC)
- Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC)
- Catholic Youth of the Chapel (CYOC)
- Catholic Single Adult Ministries
- Catholic Vacation Bible School (VBS)
- Other Catholic Parish programs/events requiring religious education
- Manage funds: propose annual Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund (CTOF) and Appropriated Fund (APF) budgets, ensure proper documentation, track expenditures, and comply with AFI 52‑105 and related regulations.
- Coordinate material purchase requests, ensuring current literature and educational resources are supplied.
- Serve as a customer service representative for the Chapel, providing answers, information, and guidance.
- Create and distribute program/event advertisements, keeping timing in coordination with the Catholic Chaplain.
- Maintain continuity records: calendars, budgets, rosters, after‑action reports, background checks, and other necessary documentation.
- Assist in Sacramental Preparation programs, coordinate and transmit sacramental records for the Archdiocese of Military Service.
- Maintain and secure rosters of all religious education leaders/teachers, ensuring privacy under AFI 33‑332.
- Help determine curriculum needs and select appropriate curriculum in accordance with Archdiocese and Air Force Chaplain Service standards.
- Produce and submit orders for religious education materials.
- Maintain consolidated curriculum records and statistical data for monthly reports to the Chapel Superintendent and Deputy Wing Chaplain.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts with program leads, the Catholic Chaplain, or Parish Advisory Council.
- Recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers for relevant ministries, maintaining rosters for those working with youth.
- Attend Chapel Staff, Catholic Staff, Parish Advisory Council, and Chapel Financial Working Group meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Cannot be a current Department of the Air Force employee unless approved by DoDD 5500.7‑R.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to plan, organize, and manage diverse program requirements.
- Fluency in English.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
- Willingness to work in an ecumenical environment and adapt to the Wing Chaplain’s vision.
- For faith‑group specific roles, must be a practicing member of the respective faith group at Hurlburt Field.
- Two or more years of practical experience leading religious education programs with proven leadership and management skills.
- Resume and references validating education and experience; own transportation to and from the location.
- For Catholic community coordinators, must conform to Catholic Church Teachings and AMS policies, including baptism and confirmation in good standing. A sacramental record statement must be provided.
Position Timing: Immediate hire upon completion of all background and security investigations.
