GENERAL JOB SUMMARY

Serve as Kratos DOT-focused Innovation, Policy, and Deployment Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Autonomous Truck Mounted Attenuator (ATMA) and related roadway authority deployments. This role leverages deep DOT experience to help grow business, advocate for ATMA adoption, guide compliant deployment practices, and support customer engagement across DOTs and roadway authorities (including Highway Patrol / enforcement partners).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Develop business opportunities for the ATMA and grow product sales
  • Act as the primary DOT/roadway authority SME for ATMA deployment planning, execution, and operational alignment
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities, shaping customer strategies, and strengthening relationships with DOT stakeholders
  • Advocate for ATMA and related automation technologies through industry engagement (e.g., DOT forums, conferences, committees)
  • Advise Kratos teams on DOT policies, procedures, procurement practices, and project workflows relevant to roadway technology deployments
  • Support customer-facing discussions on operations concepts, work-zone procedures, safety practices, and deployment constraints
  • Assist with proposal inputs (technical/operational narratives), program documentation, and customer briefings
  • Coordinate with internal engineering/program teams to ensure deployment approaches align with roadway authority requirements and expectations
  • Provide practical guidance for deployments involving DOT and Highway Patrol coordination, site access, operational approvals, and stakeholder communications
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Other Job Functions
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Mentor internal team members on DOT engagement best practices and deployment norms
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

PREFERRED
  • 10+ years DOT experience; prior role as Supervising Transportation Engineer (or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • Direct familiarity with ATMA programs, operations, or deployments
  • Strong understanding of roadway authority processes (DOT governance, work-zone operations, approvals, compliance, procurement)
  • Ability to translate DOT requirements into clear guidance for internal technical and program teams
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and executive briefing skills
  • Comfort representing Kratos at meetings, demonstrations, and industry events
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple customer engagements and priorities
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor is degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of DOT experience with demonstrated involvement in innovation/technology adoption
  • Experience coordinating across agencies and partners (e.g., DOT districts, safety offices, enforcement stakeholders, contractors)
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
WORK ENVIRONMENT /

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Combination of office work and field/customer engagement
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and perform repetitive keyboarding
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to travel up to ~10% (as needed for customer meetings, demonstrations, and events)
