About the OpportunityIn this role, you will perform complex and varied work to develop and recommend improvements in the manufacturing system, product manufacturability, and cost effectiveness. You will work with cross‑functional teams on new product development, select, evaluate, and qualify materials for new process introduction, and provide technical guidance to design engineers and technicians on manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities- Support day‑to‑day manufacturing by providing tools, information, and guidance required for repeatable, high‑quality production.
- Maintain proficiency in AS9100, IPC‑610, and J‑STD‑001 workmanship standards.
- Provide SMT machine support.
- Analyze data to determine sound root‑cause corrective actions.
- Study, analyze, and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, flow, fixtures, and tooling to support production.
- Investigate, recommend, and implement manufacturing cost‑reduction and product improvement programs.
- Participate in customer specification and statement of work reviews.
- Review and analyze process change requests and implement as required.
- Assess current equipment capabilities and justify capital investment.
- Perform cost analyses, including make/buy recommendations.
- Develop manufacturing operating instructions.
- Develop and track manufacturing metrics to monitor process health.
- Evaluate non‑conformances as part of the Material Review Board.
- Develop procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes, or assembly applications.
- Provide customer support when needed.
- Interface with suppliers to reduce and eliminate quality issues at incoming inspection.
- Develop ROI for capital equipment, new process development, and productivity improvements.
- BSEE, Industrial Engineering, or a similar technical degree.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer with solder experience and SMT machines.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in MS Office and exposure to AutoCAD.
- ITAR aerospace facility – U.S. Persons only; ability to obtain a Secret clearance required.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Experience in aerospace, medical device, or similar regulated environments.
- New product introduction (NPI) experience.
- SMT programming experience.
