Position Summary: System Engineer, Senior – Provide systems engineering design, development, integration, and fielding support for hybrid service architectures (physical, virtual, cloud) across multiple classifications within the Worldwide Warfighter Network (WWN) Services. Lead system engineering activities, collaborate with stakeholders, develop specifications and technical analysis of alternatives, and manage documentation and operational testing. May assist in defining project scope, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and performing risk management.

  • Lead systems engineering activities for WWN.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify end‑user requirements, decompose requirements, and develop technical specifications.
  • Present technical approach and standards, and oversee solution development life‑cycle from design to deployment.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation: system designs, DoDAF diagrams, interface control documents, protocol specifications, and performance baselines.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Participate in research, analysis, integration, and testing events, serving in Tier‑3 capacity when performance is degraded.
  • Assist management in defining project scope and engineering objectives.
  • Coordinate across engineering disciplines to produce a unified product.
  • Perform risk management, including leading AoA with emphasis on customer requirements.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, cyber security standards, and evolving technologies.
  • Advocate for services, enhancing operational value, user adoption, and product satisfaction.

Additionally, this team member will:

  • Communicate transparently with peers, customers, and stakeholders to meet schedules and identify risks and dependencies.
  • Support service lifecycle activities, cyber compliance, organizational readiness, and deliverables to meet MVP, IOC, and FOC criteria.
  • Assess proposed changes to software, systems, and features affecting system authorizations and use cases.
  • Conduct deliverable reviews and lead corrective actions.
  • Review security architecture, design, development, and configuration of information systems.
  • Provide inputs to development teams for organizational information systems and legacy upgrades.
  • Ensure best practices in software engineering, secure design, architecture, and coding techniques.
  • Manage backlog and capability roadmaps.
  • Stay informed on security technologies and threats to recommend mitigations.
  • Identify integration issues in new system implementations and recommend solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years with Master’s; 4 years with PhD or JD; or high school diploma with 13 years of experience.
  • Preferred: 15 years with Bachelor’s; 13 years with Master’s; 10 years with PhD or JD; or high school diploma with 19 years of experience.
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance; TS/SCI clearance attainable.
  • Experience applying rigorous systems engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of MBSE and SE best practices.
  • Strong application of SE across development and sustainment.
  • Experience researching industry trends, standards, and security vulnerabilities; skilled with STIGS, test automation, CI/CD, and Git.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing complex IT or communications system designs.
  • Experience in a government contracting environment.
  • Self‑motivated and proactive in seeking support when needed.
Preferred Requirements
  • Significant Linux and Windows experience.
  • Experience with distributed DoD modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with complex IT integration and networking projects.
  • Experience in DoD C4I systems and protocols.
  • Experience utilizing Agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Experience with Confluence, Jira, and Git.
  • Knowledge of container fundamentals.
