General Description
Aircraft Mechanic II at Tyonek Native Corp
. Requires experience repairing fuel systems, engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet assigned missions.
- Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty; repairs aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation; solves moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturer’s manuals.
- Has thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts; knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair; basic knowledge of electrical theory; knowledge of unique aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- Requires working knowledge of technical publications; receives technical guidance from supervisors or higher‑level technicians; may lead teams through more complex tasks and may record entries in aircraft logs and records.
- Prioritizes workloads and leads teams through complex tasks; inspectors of Mechanic IIs and Is.
- Provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assists in recommending changes to (MWO).
- May require specialization in sheet metal, electric work, avionics, or other aircraft system disciplines.
- Might use HVLP spray gun and other corrosion control tooling.
- Work accomplished on and off aircraft depending on requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience on the C‑130H/J variant aircraft.
- May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.
- CPR Qualified is a preference.
- Trained on proper use, inspection, and wear of personal protective clothing and equipment is required.
- Trained on use of communication equipment is preferred.
- Familiarity with recognizing symptoms of overexposure to chemicals, solvents, and fuels.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Physical Requirements- Walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
- Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, work stands, and work at heights with fall protection devices.
- Crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- Lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
- Read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
- See imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
- Communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Distinguish color and judge three‑dimensional depth.
- Operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.
- Work in high heat or extreme cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
- Operate in austere COUNS and OCOUNS locations.
- Wear a full face or forced air respirator.
- Work in confined spaces.
