Director of Trauma Program

We are seeking an experienced Director of Trauma Program to lead and oversee a Level II Trauma Center within an acute care hospital setting in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This role is responsible for the operational, quality, and strategic management of the trauma program and plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality trauma care across the continuum.

This is an operations-focused leadership role, not a traditional Nursing Director position, and requires deep subject-matter expertise in trauma systems and acute care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic planning and operational oversight for the trauma program.
  • Develop and monitor processes to improve financial performance and resource utilization.
  • Coordinate trauma care across departments and throughout the care continuum.
  • Collaborate with local and regional trauma systems.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, performance metrics, and quality indicators.
  • Develop and manage quality filters, audits, and case reviews to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee the trauma registry to support performance improvement, reporting, and research while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Manage trauma center verification and re-verification processes.
  • Serve as a key liaison with physicians, nursing staff, emergency services, and hospital leadership.
  • Address patient concerns and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide leadership to a team of trauma program professionals.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate Degree (Bachelor's preferred).
  • 5+ years of recent acute care trauma leadership experience (e.g., Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Coordinator).
  • Strong knowledge of trauma systems, quality improvement, and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required (must be obtained within 30 days of start).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operations.
Preferred Attributes
  • Subject matter expert in trauma and acute care.
  • Strong communicator with physicians, nursing staff, and executive leadership.
  • Data-driven, organized, and quality-focused leader.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a well-established trauma program in Fort Walton Beach, FL, collaborate with respected physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and make a meaningful impact on trauma care delivery and patient outcomes.
