A strong leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Surgical Services RN Manager to join a respected acute care hospital located in the Florida Panhandle. This is a key management role for a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic perioperative environment and is passionate about quality, safety, and operational excellence in surgical services.
Position OverviewThe Surgical Services RN Manager provides leadership and direction for the Operating Room, ensuring 24-hour accountability for patient care, clinical standards, and staff performance. This individual plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the surgical department, promoting collaboration among multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. Working closely with the Director of Surgical Services, this leader will help shape department strategy, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
KeyResponsibilities
Provide visible, hands-on leadership for the Surgical Services team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Oversee clinical operations, staffing, scheduling, and workflow for assigned surgical units.
Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accrediting agencies.
Foster collaboration across departments and with medical staff to enhance communication and patient outcomes.
Monitor key performance metrics and implement quality improvement programs to achieve departmental goals.
Manage resources effectively, ensuring availability and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Support hospital-wide initiatives focused on core measures, patient safety, and service excellence.
Participate in staff development and mentorship to build a cohesive, high-performing team.
Round regularly with staff and patients to maintain visibility and address concerns promptly.
Promote a positive, patient-centered culture that reflects the organizations mission and values.
QualificationsActive Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care OR leadership experience (within the past year)
Reports to: Director of Surgical Services
Unit Size: 10 main ORs, 2 CVORs
Average Daily Volume: 25 cases
Team Size: Approximately 62 FTEs
Departments Overseen: Surgical Services only
