Job Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13‑week travel assignment in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The role includes 36 hours per week on 12‑hour days. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.
Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
- Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhere to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
- Monitor the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon.
- Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
- Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
- Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.
- Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
- Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC), or ENPC certifications.
- OR Nursing Certification (CNOR).
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical Abilities – Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal Skills – Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary), presenting a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Technical/Motor Skills – Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements – Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. May work under close supervision occasionally and handle irregular activity schedules while maintaining continuous concentration to detail.
