Joint Advanced Fires Instructor & Scenario Developer - Defense Sector, Leidos
The Defense Sector at Leidos is seeking an experienced Joint Advanced Fires Instructor/Scenario Developer to support the Joint Advanced Fires Qualification Course (JAFQC). In this role, you will apply deep expertise in designing and executing military exercises
—from tabletop to fullscale events—focused on All Domain Operations
. Your work will directly prepare students for follow‑on assignments within Combatant Command (CCMD) and Service Component Joint Fires Elements
.
- JAFQC Scenario Development—support senior faculty by conducting technical research, building realistic multidomain scenarios, and producing on‑demand intelligence assessments aligned to JAFQC learning objectives.
- Current Operations Intelligence Updates—produce weekly OSINT and classified (SIPR/JWICS) current‑events briefs to maintain global theater awareness for course faculty.
- Intelligence Product Creation—develop high‑fidelity intelligence products for Part Task Training, including OPLAN/OPORD Annex B estimates, Order of Battle assessments, MLCOA/MDCOA analysis, and executive‑level strategic summaries. Ensure all scenarios reflect the Joint Warfighting Concept (JWC).
- Exercise Evaluation Support—augment the JAFQC Evaluation Team as an advisor or technical SME during exercises and major events as required.
- Military Experience—minimum 12 years as a commissioned officer, warrant officer, or senior NCO.
- Security Clearance—current Top Secret/SCI eligibility.
- Education—BA/BS required; equivalent operational experience may substitute.
- Joint Headquarters Experience—at least 24 months (within the last 6 years) in a Joint Force HQ performing intelligence or target system analysis. Relevant MOS/AFSC: 0231, 35F, IS, 1N0 and officer equivalents.
- Scenario Development Expertise—familiarity with Road to War, MSELs, OPFOR campaign plans, and INTSUMs.
- Force Structure Knowledge—deep understanding of Blue/Red force capabilities and employment at tactical and operational levels.
- Instructional Experience—minimum 1 year of formal platform instruction; completion of a formal instructor course (or willingness to attend prior to assuming duties).
- Communication Skills—exceptional writing and briefing skills to support scenario, intelligence, and presentation requirements.
- Advanced Education—MA/MS or graduation from a senior‑level Service college.
- Advanced Warfighting Schools—graduate of SAMS, SAASS, SAWS, MAWS, or JAWS.
- Elite Tactics Programs—completion of TOPGUN, WTI, USAF Weapons School, or equivalent programs producing advanced tactics SMEs.
- STO Experience—prior involvement in planning/executing Special Technical Operations at JTF, CCMD, or Service Component (Echelon
2).
Pay Range: $92,300.00 - $. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation. Additional factors considered include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, market data alignment, and applicable agreements.
