Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Worldwide Campus is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Building Monitor to support operations at our Eglin (Fort Walton Beach) location. This role is essential to maintaining a secure, organized, and professional learning environment for students and faculty on a U.S. military installation.

The Building Monitor serves as the on-site point of contact during instructional sessions, ensuring facilities are properly prepared, secured, and compliant with all safety and security regulations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the success of military-affiliated students while supporting Embry-Riddle's mission of delivering high-quality education in a secure and structured environment.

Key Job Functions

* Open, close, and secure all facilities used for educational sessions.

* Monitor and safeguard all government and university property, equipment, and controlled materials.

* Inspect learning aids and equipment before and after use; report damage, malfunctions, or misuse.

* Maintain overall responsibility for facility oversight during each session.

* Ensure compliance with all safety, fire, and security regulations.

* Monitor buildings and surrounding grounds for security concerns; notify appropriate authorities (Security Police, Fire Department, Civil Engineering) when necessary.

* Set up and arrange classrooms as needed, including moving furniture and equipment; return rooms to original condition at session end.

* Safeguard and properly manage all issued keys; immediately report any lost or misplaced keys.

* Report potential security threats or concerns to the Education Services Officer, ERAU Site Director, and/or Security Police.

* Direct students and faculty to assigned classrooms.

* Monitor hallways, break areas, off-site classrooms, and surrounding grounds to minimize disruption.

* Communicate emergency messages, official calls, mission alerts, or recall activities to faculty and students.

This is an in-person position based at Eglin Air Force Base (Eglin AFB), Florida.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $15.00. The final offer will consider the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, along with applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.

* High School Diploma or GED required.

Required Credentials

* Must possess a valid U.S. military installation entry pass and/or U.S. Government identification card (not provided by ERAU).

Experience

* 0-1 year of related experience preferred.

* Experience in facility monitoring, security support, military environments, or customer service is beneficial.

Required Skills & Abilities

* Strong organizational and observational skills.

* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet applications).

* Ability to monitor compliance with safety and security regulations.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, and military personnel.
