Vehicle Maintenance Technician

Clearance: Must have an Active SECRET Clearance

Position Description

Network Runners is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), 720th Special Tactics Group (720th STG), and Special Tactics Training Squadron (STTS). The Vehicle Maintenance Technician provides comprehensive maintenance support for a fleet of general‑purpose and Special Operations Forces (SOF)‑peculiar vehicles. The technician diagnoses, repairs and maintains vehicles, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, coordinates repairs with the logistics squadron, and tracks maintenance activities and costs.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of general‑purpose and SOF‑peculiar vehicles.
  • Perform in‑depth equipment checks, provide detailed maintenance and repairs, and determine serviceability of equipment in accordance with Technical Orders and individual vehicle manuals.
  • Inspect unit vehicles and equipment and coordinate directly with the logistics squadron for repair or replacement of GSA trucks, vans, HMMWVs and LMTVs.
  • Ensure the motorized equipment program meets regulatory guidance per AFI
    24‑302 and TO36‑1‑191 for accountability and maintenance.
  • Utilize an equipment accountability database or spreadsheet to track equipment utilization and maintenance and repair time/costs.
  • Ensure all motorized equipment is in good working order and prepared for mission and training use.
  • Perform functional tests; analyze performance and malfunctions; remove, install, test, maintain, modify, isolate faults and adjust mechanical assemblies and components.
  • Participate in vehicle‑specific training and maintain knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous material programs.
Required/Desired Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a 7‑level in the United States Air Force vehicle management career field (AFSC2T371) or an equivalent sister service logistics career field, with experience supporting Special Operations Forces.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle safety regulations and procedures; ability to operate all‑terrain vehicles (ATVs) and motorcycles or complete the unit’s in‑house certification.
  • License or certification, or ability to qualify, to operate material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements and hazardous material programs.
  • Willingness to participate in vehicle‑specific training.
  • Ability to lift 40pounds and perform physically rigorous work in both shop and outdoor/range environments, including non‑climate‑controlled settings.
