Embedded Software Engineer, Software Engineer, Embedded Systems/ Firmware/ IoT, DevOps
You will report directly to our Software Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Fort Washington, PA location on a hybrid work schedule. Be part of a team that designs cutting‑edge products for the industrial sector, including the Honeywell Smart Line series of transmitters and other devices used to optimize and control global industrial processes. You will be at the forefront of New Product Development (NPD) to bring a strong voice to the design of our next‑generation products, leveraging industry‑standard tools and simulation techniques in the embedded product firmware architecture, design and development domain.
Your goal will be to deliver high‑quality products, provide customer support and enable business results while also acting as a technical expert, individual contributor, team contributor and coach for junior team‑members as needed. You will work with various embedded integrated development environments and tools, along with Jira and Bitbucket, and with safety certification and cybersecurity engineers and industrial standards organizations to ensure product development complies with applicable standards.
You will collaborate with extended global development teams, test engineers, product release, manufacturing and information development teams and others during the product development cycle.
- Product design, architecture, code development, unit and integration testing, code reviews, and build and release activities.
- Work with certification engineers to ensure products align with current standards.
- Assist the engineering manager in defining scope and mitigating risk for new product development.
- Address product quality and manufacturing issues through root‑cause analysis.
- Lead customer‑focused discussions and define stakeholder requirements as needed.
- Mentor and coach junior level engineers as needed.
- Develop and improve work practices and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science/engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience Embedded firmware development, debug and analysis.
- Strong experience with coding in C language.
- Master’s degree with knowledge about Industrial Communications Protocols such as HART, BLE, other protocols Plus.
- Embedded systems experience in milliwatt power environments and microcontrollers.
- Utility or test Software development on PC.
- Software simulation experience.
- Industrial communication protocol experience.
- Design for SIL (Safety Integrity Level) and cybersecurity.
- Use of source control tools like Git, Bit Bucket.
- Use of Agile tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Individuals who are self‑motivated and able to work with little supervision.
