Our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Specialist plays a key role in connecting people with materials beyond our shelves‑tracking down books and articles from across the country and sharing our resources with other libraries in return.

What You’ll DoYou’ll coordinate the flow of materials between ACPL and partner libraries, ensuring requests are handled accurately, efficiently, and with great customer care.
- Examine, verify, and process interlibrary loan requests from patrons
- Place requests using ILL software and communicate when items cannot be supplied
- Review requests from other libraries and determine availability in our catalog
- Place holds and process items through the integrated library system (ILS)
- Prepare materials for shipment, including creating manifests, packaging, and coordinating courier or mail delivery
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain ILL software in collaboration with IT
- Create and manage user accounts; maintain accurate records and perform database clean‑up and special projects
- Handle billing and invoicing for lending libraries, post payments, and manage account blocks for non‑payment
- Collaborate with Collection Development staff to identify the best ways to obtain hard‑to‑find materials
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Comfort working with library systems, databases, and specialized software
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Clear, professional communication with library partners and colleagues
- Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to troubleshoot technical issues
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating across teams
- Experience in library services, circulation, or materials processing preferred
